On September 8, 1951 James and May Wedekind welcomed their first son, Michael James.  He was later joined by brothers John, Ruth (Justin, Micah and families), Joe, Lori (Emilee, Seth and families)

Mike enjoyed helping on the farm and being outside.  After graduation he started working at Bandag, Inc.  He was drafted into the Army and served two years.  He came back to Bandag where he completed a 28 year career.

In 1998 he married Nancy Whalley and moved to Pella to join a new family which included three stepsons – Chad, Kyle and Jonathan.  His family became complete with three daughters-in-law – Jamie, Erin and Emily followed by six grandchildren – Adrian, Brennen (Chad), Nolan, Nicholas (Kyle) and Lydia, Peter (Jonathan)

Mike worked for Pella Corp and Vermeer before retiring.

He passed away peacefully in Iowa City Hospital on February 22, 2023 following complications from a heart attack.

The pride of his life were his six grandchildren, great nephews Cooper, Logan and niece Ella.

His father, Jim preceded him in death.

In lieu of a funeral service we will be having a Celebration of Life Gathering on April 29, 2023.  Details will follow in the Town Crier and KNIA/KRLS so please save the date.
