Mildred Lois Ludwick Ratcliff, daughter of Ray and Jennie Monsma Ludwick, was born April 15, 1924, at her parent's farm home near Taintor, Iowa. She passed away at Harbor Crest Home in Fulton, Illinois, on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at the age of eighty-five.
Mildred grew up in the Lynnville/Sully area where she received her education, graduating from Lynnville High School.
On February 22, 1946, Mildred was united in marriage with Kenneth Ratcliff at the Lynnville Friends Church, Lynnville, Iowa. To this union two children were born: Dennis and Lucia.
Mildred and Kenneth lived in Sully, Iowa, all their married life. On July 16, 2005, Kenneth passed away. Shortly thereafter Mildred moved to Fulton, Illinois, to be closer to her family.
Mildred was employed at the Sully Co-op, Vernon's Manufacturing in Newton, and Pella Rolscreen, retiring in 1989. She enjoyed Drake basketball games, watching basketball on television, concerts, traveling, and reading.
Mildred attended the Lynnville Church of God and later the First Baptist Church in Newton until her health failed.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her son, Dennis (Ruth) Ratcliff of Fulton, Illinois, and her daughter, Lucia Pierson of Maplewood, Minnesota; two granddaughters: Jennifer Ratcliff and Robert Holmes and their son, Isaiah Ratcliff of Coralville, Iowa, and Elizabeth Ratcliff of Fulton, Illinois; sister-in-law, Betty Ratcliff of Grinnell, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death: her parents; her husband, Kenneth; brother, Lloyd Ludwick.
