Muriel Goemaat was one of nine children born to Martenis Govert and Everdena (Schut) Kamerick on October 17, 1925, in rural Pella. She passed away September 12, 2016, in Knoxville.

Muriel was baptized and made profession of faith at an early age. She grew up and lived in the Pella and Harvey areas and attended East Amsterdam school through the 8th grade. On September 12, 1942, Muriel was united in marriage to Abraham Goemaat in Lancaster, Missouri. Abe and Muriel farmed and raised their family in the Pella and Harvey area. To this union four children were born: Ronald Abraham, Marilyn Arlene, Judith Elaine, and Linda Jane.

Muriel had been employed at various places and retired from Maytag in Newton. Her love was her children, grandchildren, taking care of the elderly and all her dear friends.

Those left to honor her memory are her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great- grandchildren; and siblings-in-law: Julia Kamerick, Sylvia Langstraat, and Murray and Donna Goemaat, all of Pella.

Muriel was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Abraham Goemaat; her parents; daughter Marilyn and Jim Hopwood; siblings: John J. Kamerick, Henrietta and Layton Mathes, Bertha and Clifford Mathes, Effie and George De Wit, Martenis and Jo Kamerick, Walter and Billie Kamerick, Marie and Tone Langstraat, Jennie and Peter Bogaards; and siblings-in-law: Nellie and Arie Brouwer, John and Erma Goemaat, and Mabel and Cecil Van Vark.

Muriel will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
