Nellie Van Wyk, daughter of John W. Van Manen and Maatje (Koopman) Van Manen was born July 6, 1920, in Kellogg, Iowa. She attended school in the Kellogg area, graduating from Kellogg High School in 1937.

On April 25, 1941, she was united in marriage to Kenneth D. Van Der Wilt in Sully. To this union two children were born: Bryce D. Van Der Wilt and Judy (Mrs. Dwight) Ver Steegt. Kenneth, Nellie and their family farmed the family farm at rural Lynnville. On February 1, 1966, Kenneth passed away suddenly. Nellie left the farm and moved to Pella. She worked at the Pella Hospital in the dietary department from 1966 – 1974. On September 28, 1974, Nellie was united in marriage to Bert Van Wyk. She was a member of Covenant Reformed Church in Pella.

She is also survived by two step daughters-in-law: Lois Van Wyk of Pella, and Susan Van Wyk of New York, many step-grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren.

Nellie was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her husband Bert, her parents, four brothers: Johnny, Peter, Art, and Dick, her sister Gertie Verwers, and her step-sons: Norman W. Van Wyk, and Roger Van Wyk.
