Obituary

V. Orleath (Vogelaar) Ingle was born on June 15, 1925. She was the only child of Gary and Wilhelmina (Koelman) Vogelaar of Pella, IA. Orleath grew up in Pella and graduated from Pella High School with the Class of 1943. She attended Central College from 1943 to 1945, following in the footsteps of her parents, who were also alumni. She later transferred to Northwestern University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1947. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.

Following her graduation, Orleath was briefly employed as an administrative assistant at Iowa State University. After relocating to Des Moines, she worked for the Federal General Accounting Office before transferring to the Iowa Office of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, U.S. Savings Bonds Division. She later advanced to a position in the Regional Office of the U.S. Savings Bonds Division. In 1972, when her office relocated to St. Louis, Orleath elected early retirement after completing 25 years of government service, allowing her to remain in Des Moines.

On July 14, 1963, Orleath was united in marriage to Glenn L. Ingle at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. The couple made their home in Des Moines until 1984, when they began dividing their time between Park Hills near Otley, Iowa, and Cape Coral, Florida. In 1999, they relocated to Ankeny, Iowa, while continuing to spend winters in Florida.

On October 20, 2026, Orleath passed away peacefully at home. She attained the age of 101 years, 4 months, and 5 days. Those left to honor her memory include her stepdaughter, Sonja M. Maxwell of Ankeny, Iowa; four grandchildren: Sheri Squaires, Brad (Karen) Maxwell, Karen (Joe) Merrill, and Michelle (Vic) Lovejoy; five great-grandchildren: Derek Maxwell, Jessica Merrill, Benjamin Merrill, Erin Maxwell and Christina West; and many dear friends.

Orleath was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn L. Ingle, who passed away in 2002; her stepdaughter, Carole Elaine (Squaires) Wagoner, who died in 1978; and her parents, Gary and Wilhelmina Vogelaar.

She was a member of Second Reformed Church in Pella and an affiliate member of Ankeny United Methodist Church. Orleath enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and entertaining family and friends.

Garden Chapel Van Dyk Duven Funeral Home is overseeing the arrangements.
