Paul Alan Buwalda was born on September 27, 1962, to Paul O. and Delores Workman Buwalda in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He received his early education in the Pella Schools and graduated from Pella High School with the class of 1981. He then attended Central College in Pella, graduating in 1985.

Paul had been employed at Pella Corporation and for the past ten years he worked at the John Deere Company in Des Moines where he was the Assembly-UAW Time Study Representative.

On July 10, 2009, Paul was united in marriage with Nikkole Morrow in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Paul enjoyed spending time with his son, Rayshard, and caring for his family. He was an outdoorsman, a people person, and was always willing to help family and friends. Football was always an important part of Paul's life, starting in Arizona with the Pop Warner League, and then playing for Pella High School and Central College.

Paul passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at his home in Des Moines. Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Nikkole of Des Moines; his son, Rayshard; his step-daughter, Jazmarye Morrow; his parents, Paul and Delores Buwalda of Cabool, Missouri; his siblings, Jana Ogden of Bloomfield, Iowa and brother, Steven of Cabool Missouri. He was preceded in death by his brother, John M. Buwalda II in 1996.
