Philip G. Proudfit passed away Monday, February 11, 2008 at the Friendship Manor Care Centre in Grinnell, Iowa.
Philip was born in Quincy, Illinois on May 19, 1937 to Garnet and Vivian Proudfit. He attended Martensdale St. Mary's School. On March 4, 1957 he was married to Eva Mae Roelofsen in Sully, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Ginny, Leslie, and Lana.
Philip drove truck most of his life, and a great part of that was for the Sully Transport. He considered Sully Transport to be a part of his family. Philip was a long term member of the West Liberty Church of Christ in Montezuma. He loved reading the Bible and also teaching it. Sunday School, devotions at Windsor Manor, and Bible study classes: he taught them all and loved them all. He also enjoyed being with family, fishing, eating, tractors, and listening to country and gospel music.
Philip is survived by his wife: Eva Mae of Grinnell; his children: Ginny Ewing and her husband Michael of Montezuma, Les Proudfit and his wife Mary of Grinnell, Lana Proudfit and Tony Griffith of Brooklyn; his twelve grandchildren: Dusty, Randi, Brad, April, Sierra, Dustin, Fred, Cassie, Preston, Afton, Kyle, Nick, and Tyler; seven great-grandchildren: Shawn, Desirae, Zach, Travis, Taya, Sydney, and Karleigh.
Preceding him in death are: his father, Garnet Proudfit and his grandson, Travis Schmidt Ewing.
