Ralph Van Wyk was born on December 18, 1925, to John Will and Ella (Wyngarden) Van Wyk on the family farm northwest of Sully, Iowa. He passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, at the Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa, Iowa, at the age of eighty-seven.

Ralph completed the eighth grade and soon started his career in farming. On September 8, 1950, he was united in marriage with Lucille M. Van Zee in Holland, Michigan. They were blessed with three children: Verlan, Marlin, and Carlyn.

He was a member of the Third Reformed Church and the American Legion. His favorite past-time was farming, which he did his entire life.

Those left to cherish his memory are his three children and their spouses: Verlan and June Van Wyk of Sully, Marlin and Laureen Van Wyk of Sully, and Carlyn and Jeff Zentner of Pella, twelve grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Lucille; his parents, John and Ella Wyngarden, and his parents-in-law, Andrew and Trynie Van Zee.
