Raymond H. Van Wyk, son of Gerrit J. and Cornelia Roorda Van Wyk, was born February 20, 1921, near Eddyville, Iowa. He passed away at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House on Monday, February 15, 2010, five days short of his eighty-ninth birthday.

On January 20, 1949, Ray was united in marriage with Gertrude Van Wyk at the Sully Reformed Church. They were blessed with two children: Linda and Galen.
