Reuben N. Terlouw was born July 23, 1934, to Gysbert and Winnie (Engbers) Terlouw, in Mahaska County, Iowa.
Reuben attended Pleasant View Country School and was a 1952 graduate of Pella High School. When Carol attended Central College, she met her future husband Reuben Terlouw on a blind date. Reuben married Carol Voskuil on December 29, 1954. To this union they were blessed with three sons: Steven, Keith, and Bruce.
On February 11, 1955, Reuben left for the service, in Fort Smith, Arkansas where they lived for two years. After being discharged from the service, they moved to a farm northeast of Pella where they lived for more than 60 years. Carol was always ready to help Reuben on the farm. In his spare time, you could find Reuben fishing or reading.
Reuben was an active member of Berean Baptist Church where he served many roles; deacon, Sunday school teacher, on the building committee, and he loved serving at the Iowa Regular Baptist Church Camp.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carol, parents Gysbert and Winnie Terlouw, parents-in-law Edward and Alice Voskuil, sisters: Edna (William) Parker, and Martha (Fred) Rowden, brothers and sisters-in-law: Laverne (Clarence) Somsen, Delores (Lowell) Te Beest, Marlys (John) Blok, Muriel (Don) Christianson, Eleanor Ingelse-Engstrom (Lawrence Ingelse and Theodore Engstrom) and David Voskuil.
Reuben is survived by his three sons and their families:

Reuben is also survived by, ten grandchildren and their families, 28 great grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law Norman and Linda Terlouw of Pella; sister-in-law Sally Voskuil of Green Bay, and many nieces and nephews.
