Roland Harris Eysink was born June 19, 1932, on the family farm in the Sandridge neighborhood to Gerrit and Rosetta Huyser Eysink. He passed away at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at the age of seventy-seven.
He received his early education at the Sandridge Country School and later graduated from Pella Community High School with the class of 1950.
On November 16, 1956, Roland was united in marriage with Ruth De Zwarte in Pella. They were blessed with two children: Stan and Sheryl. Roland and Ruth farmed for many years. Later Roland was employed at Ring-O-Matic and Tri-County Vet Clinic.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pella. He was also a member of the Marion County Cattleman's Association and Red Rock Threshers. Roland was an avid sports fan who faithfully followed Pella Community School sporting events, and was a 4-H Club leader for many years.
Roland is survived by his wife Ruth; his children and their spouses: Stan and Carla Eysink and Sheryl and Terry England all of Pella; two grandchildren: Lance Eysink of Pella and Kelly Johnson and her husband Curtis of Webster City; one sister and her husband: Lois and Bernard Van Zante of Otley.
Roland was preceded in death by: his parents, Gerrit and Rosetta Eysink; his nephew, Phil Van Zante; and his parents-in-law, Henry and Dorothy De Zwarte.
Roland enjoyed camping, especially at the Iowa State Fair, cooking with the Cattleman's Association, traveling, and morning coffee at the local establishments.
