Russell James Woods, son of Grover and Virginia Kaiser Woods, was born on October 28, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the oldest of five children. He passed away Monday, August 16, 2010, at the Pella Regional Health Center at the age of fifty-nine.

Russ and his family moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa, when he was twelve years old and he lived there most of his adult life.

On July 18, 1971, Russ was united in marriage with Wilma DeWild in Eddyville, Iowa. They were blessed with two children: Denise and Deana. Russ also had an adopted son, Jeremy Woods from a previous marriage.

Russ was employed with the Pepsi Company. He was a member of the Federated Fellowship Church in Pella where he participated in church activities and was active in Sunday night prayer meetings. He enjoyed watching sports, playing cards, and attending the grandkids activities. He was known as quite a joker.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Wilma of Pella; his three children and three grandchildren: Denise and Doug Rodwell and their son Dylan of Oskaloosa , Deana and David Stanley and their children, Amanda and Nicolas of Pella, and his adopted son, Jeremy Woods of Oskaloosa; his brothers-in-law and their spouses: Roger and Peggy DeWild of Austin, Minnesota and Rex and Fonda DeWild of Blakesburg, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Ruth Van Maanen, Mary Schafer, Jerry Woods, and Penny Woods.

He will be missed by his family, friends, and all that knew and loved him.
