Sara Leona Vander Linden Beekhuizen was born October 25, 1924, in Pella, Iowa. She was the fourth of nine children born to Luke and Minnie Van Zee Vander Linden. Sara went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at the Serenity House in Oskaloosa, Iowa, at the age of eighty-six.

As a young girl, Sara met John Beekhuizen at a church gathering. After a couple years of courtship they were united in marriage on February 1, 1950, at the home of her parents near Harvey, Iowa. John and Sara were blessed with eight children: Janice, Laura, Sandy, Vicky, Cathy, Bernie, Karen, and Jonathan.

John and Sara farmed the family farm for fifty years. They are members of the Tracy Christian Reformed Church. John passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the age of eighty-five.

Sara enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her children, raising them in the Lord. She enjoyed going to the State Fair and picnicking with fried chicken. She loved spending time at Lake Keomah and enjoyed sewing and baking chocolate chip cookies.

Those left to cherish her memory are: her children: Janice (Lee) Allen of Tucson, Arizona, Laura Jean (Dennis) Van Dusseldorp, of Pella, Sandy (Marvin) Ozinga of Oskaloosa, Vicky (Phil) Slings of Pella, Cathy (Larry) Rozenboom of Tracy, Bernie (Lois) Beekhuizen of Leighton, Karen (Tim) Altenhofen of Newton, Jonathan (Staci) Beekhuizen of Hamilton, Illinois; seventeen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; her sisters: Jeanette Van Engelenhoven and Betty Pol; her brothers: Warren, Willis, and Robert Vander Linden; two sisters-in-law: Marie (Harold) Van Maanen of Pella and Grace (Eldert "Buck") Groenendyk of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; daughter-in-law, Lynda Beekhuizen; and her three brothers: Gerald, Ray, and Don Vander Linden.
