Sheila Jean Helm was born August 27, 1949, to Robert and Minerva (Schakel) Budding in Des Moines, Iowa.

Sheila lived in Ida Grove and Schleswig in her early years of life moving to Pella as a teen. She lived in Pella most of her life. She attended Pella High School where she graduated in 1967.

On March 13, 1970, she was united in marriage to Ronald E. Helm at the First Baptist Church in Pella. To this union they were blessed with two daughters: Annissa and Tabitha.

Sheila initially worked at the Overall Factory after getting married. Later, she became a stay-at-home mom. When she re-entered the workforce, she held various jobs including cleaning houses and working at Happy Joe's. She eventually retired from Walmart, where she was known for cutting fabric in the Fabric Department.

Sheila found joy in volunteering at The Well in Pella, where she selflessly served meals for the programs. Her passion extended to the kitchen where she loved to cook and bake. Her baking was more than just food – they were infused with an extra "spice of love." Anyone fortunate enough to receive her baked goods knew they were cherished.

Sheila's love for her three grandchildren knew no bounds; she would move heaven and earth to ensure their happiness. She treasured the regular phone calls and heartfelt texts from them.

She is also survived by her brother Stuart (Connie) Budding, sisters-in-law: Carol Budding, Connie (Brian) Davis, Lucy (Jerry) Ellis, and brother-in-law Marshall (TerryAnn) Calef.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents; step-parents Nick Lange and Esther Budding, parents-in-law Ronald and Helen Helm and Elizabeth (Varner) Helm; brothers: Steven Budding and Eric Budding, sisters-in-law: Bonnie Budding, Charlotte Helm, and Trudy Calef; and brothers-in-law: Allen Duane Helm and Tom Binns.
