Obituary

Stanley Willis Hoogeveen was born August 5, 1925, to Henry and Gertrude (Roelofs) Hoogeveen, in Prinsburg, Minnesota. Stan grew up in the Prinsburg area, attended Calvin College, and received his Masters from Drake University.

On March 14, 1946, he was united in marriage to Clara Van Hove at the Emden Christian Reformed Church of Renville, Minnesota. To this union five children were born: Linda, Carol, Steve,  Phil, and Michael.

Stan was a B24 tail gunner, and served in the European Theater of World War II.

Stan loved teaching and was the principal of the Sully Christian School for many years. In the summers, he often worked as a carpenter. Stan continued woodworking and made countless items for his family and friends. Family was always important to Stan and he relished spending time with them, from Sunday dinners to the big Christmas party! He loved making classroom visits to his grandchildrens' schools to talk about his time in the war. In the summers, he spent much time in his garden. Stan and Clara were avid travelers and enjoyed camping all over the United States and Canada. Lately they enjoyed sitting together watching the eagles below the dam.

Stan is survived by his wife of 74 years, Clara, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and his sister-in-law Lydia Hoogeveen of Wilmar, Minnesota.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Carol, his son Steve, his granddaughter Megan Hoogeveen, his grandson David Hoogeveen, and his siblings: Angie (Robert) Gort, Esther (Anthony) Zondervan, Eva (Lester) Brouwer, Helen (Delmar) Mulder, Lorraine Hoogeveen, and Harry Hoogeveen.
