Obituary

Stanley Jacob Schuring was born August 8, 1948, to Jacob and Arvena (Rietveld) Schuring, in Knoxville, Iowa.

His first job was a paperboy, painted with his dad, and then worked for Clover Leaf Dairy bottling milk and running a milk route. Stan was a 1966 graduate of Pella Community High School, and a 1971 graduate of Central College. He worked a year between earning money to go to college. Stan enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1976.

On July 18, 1969, he was united in marriage to Diane Van Weelden at Trinity Reformed Church. To this union, they were blessed with three daughters: Heather Lynne, Heidi Jaye, and Hilary Anne.

Stan built an accounting practice starting in 1969, with Arie Boot. Stan and Jerry Uitermarkt formed Schuring & Uitermarkt in May 1979. New partners were added to become Schuring, Uitermarkt, Sims, McCleish and Vermeer. Stan retired on December 30, 2022, after 52 years of service building relationships with tax, business and farm clients. He was past President of the Accountants Association of Iowa, Pella Ambulance, Pella Chamber of Commerce, past member of both the Parents Advisory Board at Central College and the Hilltop Board.

After retirement, Stan studied 33 books of the Bible and five independent studies through Dallas Theological Seminary.

Stan's goal was to be the best dad to his girls. He loved to fish, especially in Canada. Someone once asked if he sold fishing gear after seeing his home office. Stan dearly loved his grandchildren and now two greats! He always enjoyed whatever activity they were in. In 1986, Stan put together all the pieces to begin the cross-country program at Pella High School - Pella Striders before that. He enjoyed camping vacations in Branson every year as well as camping with friends around home.

Stan loved his "labs." He had six blacks and two whites over the years. He loved gospel music, especially The Gaithers and Oak Ridge Boys.
