IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Timothy J.
Zollar
November 1, 1943 – December 31, 2015
Timothy James Zollar was born to Frank and Mildred (Hollan) Zollar in Merricourt Court, North Dakota, on November 1, 1943. He passed away Thursday, December 31, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Tim attended Forman High School in Forman, North Dakota. He joined the Air Force in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1966. After he completed his service with the Air Force, he finished college at Valley City State University in North Dakota, where he played football and tennis. Tim entered the Christian Brothers De La Salle, and then went to Minneapolis to work at Sherwin Williams where he met his wife Susan Shockley. They were married on September 27, 1975, in Richfield, Minnesota. To this union they were blessed with daughter Scarlett. In 1979, Tim began work for the U.S. Post Office in Owatonna, Minnesota, where he worked for 27 years. Tim and Susan recently moved to Pella to be closer to family.
Tim was a charter member of Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church in Owatonna, Minnesota. He was a prayer warrior, and on the missions board. He attended prayer meetings every Wednesday evening and was very open about his faith. Tim was a faithful, loyal husband who was well-loved, and he never met a stranger. He was always helping those in need. Tim enjoyed sports; he was a great tennis player, and coached many sports. He had a passion for refurbishing anything with wheels and was an excellent mechanic.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife Susan, daughter Scarlett (Craig) Ford of Pella, and their children Dawson, Mira, Julia, Esther, and Dallas; his siblings and siblings-in-law: Paul (Karen) Zollar of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Gene Miller of Forman, North Dakota, Leo Kersting of Groton, South Dakota, Bob (Noreen) Zollar of Grey Eagle, Minnesota, and Dick (Dee) Zollar of Barnsville, Minnesota.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Tresa Miller, and Barbara Kersting.
Tim will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
