Velma Lucille Numedahl was born October 6, 1926, to  Joseph and Leola (Eppens) Staley, in Calmar, Iowa.

On December 27, 1945, she was united in marriage to Vernon Numedahl. To this union, they were blessed with three children: Gail, Larry, and Edith.

Those who will cherish her memory are her children: Gail Huerter and husband Gene of Pella, Larry (the late Kerri) Numedahl of Lake Elsinore, California, and Edith Bond and husband Brett of Baldwin City, Kansas; four grandchildren: Kelly (Tim) Heerema, Korey (Kristy)  Huerter, Kody (Morgan) Numedahl and Justin (Justine) Bond; and five great-grandchildren: Brady, Emma, Gabrielle, Mason, and Ryleigh.

Velma was preceded in death by her husband Vernon, her parents Joseph and Leola Staley, her brothers: Earl (Lucille) Staley and William (Mila) Staley, and her daughter-in-law Kerri Numedahl.
