Viola Ruth Vander Linden was born on November 1, 1917, to Peter J. and Zwanette Vischer Dykstra at the family farm near Tracy, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013, at the Oskaloosa Care Center at the age of ninety-six.

Viola attended Pleasant Grove Country School and graduated from the eighth grade. On October 11, 1940, she was united in marriage with Lester Vander Linden at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Marilyn, Edwin, and Marcella.

Viola worked at the Rolscreen Company in Pella for twenty-four years. She was a faithful member of Trinity Reformed Church, where she was a member of the Women's Guild. Viola enjoyed bowling, quilting, painting, and travelling. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. She loved caring for her family and spending time with them. She assisted Lester in his wedding photography business, taking pictures at well over 600 weddings.

She is survived by her three children and their families; two brothers-in-law, Glen Erickson of Mesa, Arizona and Harold Vander Linden of Strawberry Point, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Jeanette Dykstra of Pleasant Hill, Iowa.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty-seven years in 2007; and all of her brothers and sisters.
