Obituary

Wanda Dunsbergen was born July 5, 1925, to William and Nellie Terpstra, at her family farm west of Lynnville.

Wanda enjoyed staying active. Her involvement in church, school, and community activities spans her lifetime. A 1942 graduate of Lynnville High School, she and her late husband Cornie, married in 1943, and were married for 63 years. Cornie, a brother-in-law's relative, knew Wanda for many years. He would bring her to Sunday evening services while they were dating. They were blessed with four children: Melvin, Marlis, Carna, and Curt.

Wanda's involvement in the church included being a Sunday school superintendent and teacher as well as junior choir director for seven years; a member of the church choir under Helen Macy's direction; a member of Bible study and Martha Circle for many years; and she attended Margaret Vande Krol's adult Sunday school classes. She attended cottage prayer meetings and enjoyed sewing days at First Reformed Church and Lynnville Friends Church. She enjoyed the music, God's word being spoken, and love of Jesus expressed at First Reformed.

She was a member of the Lynnville Historical Society, Lynnville Women's Club, Jasper County Women's Chorus, and Piece Makers Quilting Guild. She also  attended many quilting retreats and made many quilts for her family and for her own enjoyment. When her children were growing up she was a 4-H club leader and Girl Scout leader. She supported her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in their sports activities.

Wanda's favorite Bible verse is John 3:16. She thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship, music and the "Word of God" at First Reformed Church. Her favorite memories included singing in the Christmas and Easter cantatas.

Wanda also had fond memories of her travels with Cornie. They traveled annually to Brownsville, Texas for 13 years during the months of January through March. Cornie and Wanda enjoyed leading and participating in a variety of activities while in Brownsville.
