Wanda Mae Stangl was born September 3, 1933, to Everett C. and Allie (De Cook) De Jong, on her parents' farm near Sully. She was a graduate of Sully High School in 1951.

On June 4, 1953, she was united in marriage to Warren De Prenger in Sully, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born: Deborah Gay and Kathy Joy. Warren and Wanda made their home in Leighton until 1997 when they moved to Pella. For many years, they spent the winters in Mesa, Arizona. Warren passed away in 1999. While spending time in Arizona, she met Tom Stangl at the Mesa Regal Park. They were married on September 15, 2002. Tom and Wanda spent many wonderful years together including many winters in Arizona. Wanda loved spending time with family and watching many activities both in person and online.

Wanda was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Leighton, and more recently First Church in Pella.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Warren De Prenger, parents Everett and Allie De Jong, and siblings: Johnnie and Delia De Jong, Clazina and Harold Hoksbergen, sisters-in-law: Blanche and Herman Wyngarden, and Mark and Esther De Prenger.
