Wilbur Anthony Rozendaal was born on October 22, 1923 to Peter G. and Anna Mae Woody Rozendaal near Lynnville, Iowa. He passed away on Monday January 5, 2009 at the Gulf Coast Medical Center in Panama City, Florida at the age of eighty-five.
On February 25, 1947 Wilbur was united in marriage with Elinor Hunziker in Sully, Iowa. Ten children were born to this union. Wilbur and Elinor lived on a farm near Lynnville, Iowa where they raised their children.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sully where he taught Sunday School.
Wilbur's favorite pastimes were his farm, the Iowa State Fair, reading, and attending auctions.
Those left to cherish his memory are his eight children: Ellen Rozendaal of Lynnville, Mary (Ken) Evans of Panama City Beach, Florida, Peter (Cheryl) Rozendaal of Pella, William (Norma) Rozendaal of Grinnell, Karl (Linda) Rozendaal of Pella, Jane (Arlan) Van Wyk of Pella, Richard (Maxine) Rozendaal of Pella and Ruth (Kermit) Van Roekel of Des Moines; twenty-eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Edward Rozendaal of Newton.
Preceding him in death was: his parents; his wife, Elinor on June 29, 2006; two daughters: Martha Rankin and Elizabeth Stoddard; his brother, Oscar Rozendaal; and his sister, Julia Rozendaal.
