Obituary

Wilbur Dick Vos was born the oldest of five children to Cornie and Henrietta (Swank) Vos on October 20, 1931, at their home north of Sully.

He was educated at three different country schools and graduated from the eighth grade from McKinney School near Galesburg. Wilbur worked on the family farm raising registered Hereford cattle in addition to working part-time for neighbors.

On August 26, 1952, Wilbur was united in marriage to  Cornelia Rolffs in Taintor, Iowa.  To this union five children were born: Stanley, Marla, Sheryll, Dennis, and Kerry.

Wilbur was drafted into the Army on September 9, 1952, and stationed one year at Camp Breckinridge, and one year at Fort Knox Kentucky. He was honorably discharged on September 8, 1954. After leaving the army, Wilbur worked for the Sully Co-op for over 40 years. When he retired, he spent 25 years wintering in Texas and volunteering at a mission outreach working on homes, churches, schools and vehicles.

Wilbur and Cornelia enjoyed attending grandchildren and great grandchildren's church and sporting events. They adored them all!  Wilbur enjoyed traveling, camping, biking, woodworking, working on old tractors, and spending time with army friends.

Wilbur is survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sisters Erma and Elva Vos, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Mavis Vos, Hermina Rolffs, Janet (Guy) Jansen, Dorothy (Marion) Vos, Mildred Lanser, and John (Shirley) Rolffs, and Jan Rolffs..

He was preceded in death by his wife Cornelia, his  parents Cornie and Henrietta Vos, his parents-in-law  Dick and Minnie Rolffs, his grandson Shane Johnson, his brothers Melvin Vos and Ivan Vos; and his brothers-in-law: Henry Rolffs, Marvin Rolffs and Louis Lanser.
