William Clair Davis was born August 18, 1938, to George and Wilma (Jones) Davis, in Moravia, Iowa. He passed away on November 15, 2022, at The Cottages in Pella, Iowa.

Bill grew up in the Blakesburg area, was a 1956 graduate of  Blakesburg High School, and a 1962 graduate of the University of Iowa.

On July 19, 1962, Bill was united in marriage to Marian Coop, in Ft. Knox, Kentucky. To this union, they were blessed with two daughters: Darcy and Melissa.

Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1962, he became a radio operator, attained the rank of Specialist 4, and was honorably discharged in 1964. Following his military service, Bill worked for John Deere Ottumwa Works in various roles for 33 years. He retired in 1999, from the role of purchasing manager. Bill had a love for John Deere, the Iowa Hawkeyes, reading, and especially for his grandkids.

Bill is also survived by his sister Margaret Woollums, brother Tom Davis, sisters-in-law: Judy Davis, Sheryl Finney, Linda McClellan, and brother-in-law Jerry and Barb Coop, and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents  George and Wilma Davis, and his siblings: Don Davis, Dorla Davis,  Betty Davis, and Vernon Davis, grand-daughter Lyndsey Hall, parents-in-law Carl and Mina Coop, and his siblings-in-law: Gerry Davis, Lois and Harold Roberts, Wylie McClellan, Jr., Jack Finney, and Vercil Woollums.
