Obituary

Wilma Ver Ploeg was born October 17, 1922, to James and Gertie (Marks) Steenhoek in Jasper County, Iowa.

Wilma attended European School District #2 in Lake Prairie Township through eighth grade, and earned her G.E.D. in 1972.

On February 12, 1947, she was united in marriage with Logan Ver Ploeg in the Methodist Church near Reasnor, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Duane, Karen, and Marilyn.

Logan and Wilma were members of the First Church in Pella. Wilma’s faith was very evident serving on various committees in the church including the quilting group, coordinating committee and ladies guild. She was also active in her neighborhood Bible Study.

Wilma was a busy housewife and enjoyed raising chickens, gardening, baking cookies, sewing and quilting. She enjoyed hosting coffeetime and sharing her homemade cookies. Wilma loved spending time with her family, and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up.
