Adam Blunck Obituary

Adam Charles Blunck of Loveland, Colorado, left this world to be with Jesus on Sunday, September 29.

Adam was born on October 12, 1986, to Rodney and Janice (Arentsen) Blunck, in Pella, Iowa.  He attended Pella Christian Grade School and Pella Christian High School where he graduated in 2005. He was on Pella Christian’s first football team and played on state tennis tournament doubles competition. Adam enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2005 and served until 2010.  Adam served his country in the Iraq War as a squad leader, and ended his active duty as a Platoon Sergeant. He earned the Rifle Expert Badge, Pistol Sharpshooter Badge, Certificate of Appreciation, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Letter of Appreciation, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. During his time in the service, Adam was deployed to Spain, Iraq, Israel, and several other locations. Adam’s Marine brothers define Adam as a leader and mentor with a heart of gold who was always loyal to the ones he loved dearly. After his service, Adam continued to serve his country as a security officer in the private industry overseas in the Middle East.

On April 25, 2015, he was united in marriage to Amy Holmquist in Oskaloosa, Iowa. To this union they were blessed with a daughter Adaline Rose. They lived together in Loveland, Colorado. After completing overseas work, Adam stayed at home to raise their daughter, and had just started school to be a police officer. He truly cherished his wife and was devoted to his daughter. Adam was known as a great cook, an expert on his Traeger smoker, faithful friend who was always quick with a witty and sarcastic joke, loving father, son and loyal husband.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Amy, his daughter Adaline, his parents Rodney and Janice Blunck, his sister Megan and Pete Boerema, his nieces and nephew Ashleigh, Anna, and James, his brother Nathan Blunck, his grandparents Carroll and Arlene Brown, and Clarence and Faye Blunck, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Reuben and Elvira Arentsen.
