Carl graduated from Pella High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army in October 1963, and was a clerk with the 65th MP’s in Toulle, France. He was proud to serve our country and was honorably discharged in October 1965. After returning home he worked in the factory for Pella Corp.

On October 12, 1968, he was united in marriage to Karen Musgrove in Pella. To this union they were blessed with two children: Wayne and Natalie.
