Colleen Bovenkamp Castorf was born May 15, 1924, to Henry and Daisy (Shelton) Bovenkamp in Galesburg, Iowa.
Colleen was a graduate of Newton High School. She acquired her teachers license and taught at several rural schools.
On September 21, 1945, she was united in marriage to Carroll Castorf. To this union two daughters were born: Lynn Louise and Marsha Ann.
Carroll and Colleen farmed for many years. In 1968, they started Castorf Camper Sales and Service, until 1996. They also owned a Casey’s Store in Sully for many years. Carroll and Colleen spent many winters in Arizona until Carroll passed away in 1996. Colleen still went to Arizona in the winters and taught teddy bear classes with her dear friend Bernice. Colleen loved to sew many beautiful quilts and was known for her famous lemon pie.
In 2007, she decided it was time to stay home in Iowa for the winters. In 2013 – 2021, she again went down to Arizona for the winter to live with Lynn and Clarence.
In 2018, Colleen moved to Sully. In 2022 she went to Independence Village in Pella. She lived there until the Lord called her home on November 29, 2023.
