Monte Lowell Bernhagen was born June 2, 1959, to Keith and Patricia (Lindbloom) Bernhagen in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Monte spent his childhood in Nebraska. He attended Dana College in Blair, went to medical school at the University of Nebraska Omaha, and did his residency at Creighton University. Monte was most recently employed at Heartland Christian Counseling.
On June 6, 1981, he was united in marriage to Julie Christiansen, at Our Savior’s Baptist Church Elkhorn, Nebraska. They were blessed with four children: son A.J. and triplets: Cassie, Trevor and Chelsey.
Monte was a Huskers fan, he enjoyed cooking and barbecue, gardening and he loved Fat Dennis the cat. He also enjoyed spending time outside and spent time taking the grandkids fishing. The family would take vacations every summer at a cabin, where there were sand dunes and white beaches in the middle of Nebraska. One of his favorite trips was to Alaska with friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Julie and their family:
