Erma Jean Ver Ploeg was born August 5, 1933 to Rennier and Sarah (Vander Leest) Dieleman in Killduff, Iowa. She passed away at her home in Sedona, Arizona on January 8, 2021.
Erma was just two years old when her father passed away and her mother died when she was nine. She grew up in the Sully area with her older sisters, and was exceptional in school.
On March 18, 1954 she was united in marriage to Wendell Ver Ploeg in Sully. To this union they were blessed with two sons: Randall and James.
Wendell and Erma moved to Michigan in 1957 where he accepted a job with Ford tractor. They began spending their winters in Sedona in 1991 and moved there permanently in 2018.
Erma was a stay-at-home mother while taking care of her two sons. She loved playing Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy. She took up golf later in life and had two holes-in-one.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Wendell and two sons: Randall and his wife Debi, their son Eric and daughter Tori (Sumrall) and great grandchild Graham; and her son James and his wife Jennifer, and their children Rachel and Jacob.
Erma was preceded in death by her parents Rennier and Sarah Dieleman, parents-in-law Dick and Agnes Ver Ploeg; and all of her siblings: Velma Van Der Kamp, Helen Van Der Zyl, Margaret Bullington, Jeanetta Van Der Kamp, Harold Dieleman, Clifford Dieleman, Clarence Dieleman, and Marvin Dieleman.
