Gaylor Ray Carter was born to Raymond and Laurina (Tessendorf) Carter, on April 18, 1947, in Eldora, Iowa.

Gaylor attended high school in Albia and Pella before graduating from Thomas Road Bible Institute with a degree in pastoral ministry.

On March 13, 1966, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Tukker in Pella, Iowa. To this union they were blessed with four children: Paula, Scott, James, and Stephen.

Gaylor and his family lived in many places as part of his job as a missionary pastor for Baptist International Mission Inc., but much of his ministry was spent in Australia where he was a missionary for 35 years. Gaylor also loved working with his hands, as well as playing and watching sports, especially football.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Dorothy and their family:

Paula and David Allan

            Rachel, Cherie, and Daniel
