Janice Uitermarkt

Janice Uitermarkt was born September 27, 1943, to Henry and Anna (Van Oonen) De Jong, in Mahaska County, Iowa.  She passed away at The Cottages in Pella, on July 7, 2021. 

Janice was a graduate of Pella Christian High School. On September 6, 1968, she was united in marriage to Adrian Henry Uitermarkt at the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella.  To this union, they were blessed with three children: Kimberly, Chad and Steven. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Kimberly Uitermarkt of Pella, Chad and Melanie Uitermarkt of Otley, and Steven Uitermarkt of Knoxville; and grandchildren: Hunter, McKinley and Caden.  She is also survived by her siblings: Paul and Marlene De Jong of Pella, Carolyn and Louis Vander Wilt of Des Moines and Ester and John De Moss of Des Moines; and her brothers and sisters-in-law: Arnold and Pat Uitermarkt of Otley, and Arlene and Larry Van Zante of Pella.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband Adrian, her parents Henry and Anna De Jong, her parents-in-law Dick and Ethel Uitermarkt,  and her brothers and sisters: Howard (Dorothy) De Jong, Darlene De Jong, Judy (Otto) Vos, and Robert (Sylvia) Uitermarkt.

Janice loved providing and caring for her family. She spent hours canning, cooking, and baking. She also cherished memories of being a daycare provider for many years. She loved music and planting flowers in the garden. She kept a strong faith in her Lord until the end of her days.
