Joyce Elaine Rempe was born April 13, 1943, to Lester and Edna (Brummel) Klein, in Leighton, Iowa. Joyce grew up in Mahaska County, and attended Madison Center Grade School, and Lacey and North Mahaska High School.
On January 18, 1963, she was united in marriage to Clarence Rempe in Oskaloosa. To this union, four children were born: Mark, Bruce, Brenda, and Vickie.

She loved gospel music festivals, camping - especially on the north shore of Lake Superior, and most of all family gatherings.
