Lois Virginia (DeJong) Van Genderen was born September 26, 1944 to Floris Walter DeJong and Doris (Monsma) DeJong. She passed away unexpected, but peacefully, of a heart attack early Tuesday morning, April 14, 2020. She attended Maple Grove Country School through 6th grade and was very active in 4-H. She graduated from Prairie City High School in 1962. She met Ronald Lee Van Genderen one Wednesday night after a church service and the rest is history! They were married November 6, 1964 at First Reformed Church in Prairie City. Lois worked in Des Moines until their first son was born and then she participated in the farming operation. She loved traveling with her family. She was an active member of First Reformed Church, the Guild for Christian Service, and taught Sunday School for several years. Later, Lois became an activity assistant at several nursing homes in the Newton area. She loved this service to others and put her whole heart into it demonstrating patience, kindness and love to all who came into her life.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Ronald, two sons and daughters-in-law, 10 grandkids and three great grandkids and one on the way, along with her sister and brother-in-law Viola (DeJong) and Brian Vande Lune. She has many nieces and nephews celebrating her life.
