Marilyn Sue Hovda was born October 10, 1952, to Earl W. and Mary Lois (Schmidt) Vande Krol. She grew up in Sully, graduated from Lynnville-Sully High School, and attended Oak Hills Bible College, where she met her husband. On August 20, 1971, she was united in marriage to Michael Hovda. Marilyn was a stay-at-home mother to their four children: Rachel, Jeremy, Bethany, and Nathanael.
Marilyn enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, shopping, and making puzzles. She also enjoyed music and played many musical instruments. Marilyn traveled to many places: Norway, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Egypt, Israel, and Mexico. She was a devout Christian who was filled with a deep faith. Most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren.
