Michael De Vries Obituary

Michael Wayne De Vries was born August 29, 1961, to Bernie and Delores “Dody” (Sampson) De Vries, in Pella, Iowa.  Mike grew up in the Pella area and was a graduate of Pella Community High School.

Early in his career, Mike worked for the Pella Power Plant, then moved to Seattle, and then Columbia, Missouri in 1994. He worked for the City of Columbia for 25 years as a Balancing Authority for Columbia Power and Light. Mike was a hard worker and was always working! He just finished his final project, and got to enjoy sitting by the fireplace listening to music with Laura by his side.

On August 1, 1995, he was united in marriage to Laura Mosley in Columbia, Missouri.  To this union they were blessed with a daughter Hope. Mike enjoyed doting on his daughter Hope and spending time with her. He was so proud of her graduating with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Mike loved cars and was meticulous with caring for them along with his lawn. He also loved spending time with family, and golfing with his brothers and Hope.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Laura, his daughter Hope De Vries of Columbia, Missouri; his brothers: Steve (Kathy) De Vries of Scottsdale, Arizona, Dan (Jan) De Vries of Knoxville, Iowa, and Jeff  (Kristin) De Vries of Pella, Iowa. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Marilyn Burgert, his sisters-in-law: Diana (Mark) Butler of Vandalia, Missouri, and Kathi Lutz of Columbia, Missouri, his brother-in-law Jim (Jacqueline) Mosley of St. Louis, Missouri, and numerous nephews and nieces that he loved dearly.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Bernie and Dody De Vries.
