Michael Edward Witt was born March 5, 1947, to Edward and Lorna (Otto) Witt, in Cherokee, Iowa.  Mike grew up in Holstein, and Knoxville, where he attended Catholic School, and he attended one year at Centerville Jr. College.

On August 20, 1966, he was united in marriage to Beverly Heartley, in Centerville, Iowa. To this union they were blessed with two sons: Michael and Matthew.

Mike loved his work. He started his career as a meat cutter and worked his way up to director. He worked for Super Valu, Hy-Vee for 22 years, Cub Foods, and Nash-Finch, then retired and worked for Farmland in Kansas City. They moved around as a couple in the meat business and lived in Iowa, Minnesota, and Kansas.

Mike and Bev also enjoyed traveling, and spending time in the Ozarks and Okoboji, where they would go boating, fishing and golfing. Mike played golf in a Pro-Am Tournament. He also enjoyed his Jeeps, especially his 1987 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
