Patricia Marie Filippini of Pella, Iowa, died on June 22, 2020, at the Comfort House in Pella. Born in Illinois, she grew up in Beecher, Illinois. Her parents, Robert Squier and Inger Jensen Squier, precede her in death. She has three brothers; Steve (Vickie), Richard, Robert (Denise), and a sister Kathleen Reeves (Trey). She attended Beecher High School, then Illinois State University where she received a BS, Art Education in 1978. She had fond memories of living in the International House which, at the time, was in Fell Hall.
Remaining in Bloomington, she met her future husband, Michael Filippini, during Sunday School at then Vale St Baptist Church. They married on July 26, 1980. They made Bloomington their home until a move to Pella in the summer of 2019 to live with her daughter and family. She has two children, Anna Allen (Christopher) of Pella and Anthony Filippini of Des Moines. There are also three grandchildren; Keane 9, Finley 7 and Aston 4.
Patricia had put her faith in Jesus as Savior that gave her an assurance of forgiveness and a sure hope of eternity with Him. She was a member of Grace Fellowship of Pella. In Illinois she took great pleasure serving the church as a Missions Friends leader, VBS and keeping in touch with missionaries through card writing. Patricia also valued her time attending Bible Study Fellowship and her time serving kids with Young Life.
A stay-at-home mom, she enjoyed volunteering at Stevenson School. She enjoyed crafts that varied depending on her health. Until almost 2006, she loved to crochet blankets for newborns. Then she liked to create cards and share her joy of crafts with her three grandchildren. For about five years, her West Highland Terrier, Katie, was a dear companion. Pat was also a follower of the Chicago White Sox and Liverpool Football Club.
Though the last years were difficult health-wise, she stayed encouraged by her faith, her church family, her friends, Luella, Mary, Mary Lou, Sarah and many others.
