Shirley Meeks

Shirley Ann Meeks was born September 10, 1943, to Joseph Gamble and Annie Mae (Munn) Cutberth, in Tippah County, Mississippi. Shirley was a 1961 graduate of Walnut High School in Walnut, Mississippi.

On April 29, 1961, she was united in marriage to Roy Doyle Meeks in Florence, Alabama. To this union they were blessed with two daughters: Sharon and Carol.

Shirley and Roy lived in many states before settling in Iowa for the majority of their life. Shirley worked in the Education Department at Grinnell Mutual Insurance and she worked as a cashier at Fareway in Knoxville.   Shirley enjoyed quilting with friends and going on bus tours. She especially loved her grandchildren and Sunday dinners with her family. Shirley was a member of the Knoxville Church of Christ.

Shirley is also survived by her sister Delilah Byrd of Collierville, Tennessee.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Roy Doyle Meeks, her parents Joseph and Annie Cutberth, her parents-in-law Roy and Blanche Meeks, her sister Billie Ruth Cardwell, and her brothers: Troy Cutberth and Charles Cutberth.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, Sunday, May 1, at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home. 

Funeral services will  be held in Ripley, Mississippi, on Tuesday, May 10.  Arrangements will be provided as soon as available.
