Valda Marie Van Haaften was born on September 26, 1934 to Roy and Clara (Duinink) Van Haaften in Pella, Iowa. She attended South/North Porterville and Valley View schools. She made Profession of Faith at Third Reformed Church at the age of 18.
Valda was united in marriage to Lawrence Klyn on November 22, 1957 in Pella, Iowa. Lawrence and Valda were charter members of Calvary CRC. They were then charter members of Hope Reformed Presbyterian Church since 2007. Valda worked for 6 years at Happy Joe’s and 15 years at Van Den Berg’s before her retirement.
Valda enjoyed listening to hymns and country music, raising flowers, playing guitar, collecting antiques, and embroidering kitchen towels. She so much enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a faithful Christian, and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
Valda was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Clara Van Haaften, her husband Lawrence Klyn, and a grandson Michael Jeffrey Klyn.
Those left to cherish her memory are her brother Marion (Marge) Van Haaften, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Sylvia (Vander Molen) Langstraat, Ray (Lois) Klyn, Lois Klyn, Marvin Klyn, Marion (Glenda) Klyn, Sidney (Mary) Klyn, and Lester (Linda) Klyn, along with many nieces and nephews, and her family:
