Virginia “Ginny” May Russ Frendt was born on May 4, 1926, to Paul and Amanda (Mueller) Russ, in Mount Clemens, Michigan. She left this earthly life, moving on to her permanent address, HEAVEN, on December 1, 2020.
She grew up on a farm near Mt. Clemens and Richmond, Michigan, as the youngest child in a family of seven kids. She was a charter member at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Armada, Michigan. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1944. She worked at Reynolds Brothers car dealership as a bookkeeper.
On July 12, 1958, she was united in marriage to George E. Frendt at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Mt. Clemens. To this union one daughter was born, Marsha Marie on December 28, 1960.
She lived most of her life in Mt. Clemens and Macomb, Michigan. Her most important job was taking care of her family. She moved to Pella, Iowa, in December 2019 to be closer to family.
She was currently a member at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waldenburg, Michigan, where she enjoyed the Tuesday morning Bible study, which she was still attending by Zoom.
She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mom, mother-in-law, grandma, nana (great-grandma), friend, neighbor, but most importantly a “Child of the King, Christian, saved by grace, loved by Jesus!”
She loved to sew, crochet and knit. She also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing softball when younger. She enjoyed time at her parents’ cabin on Au Sable Lake in northern Michigan, many summer and fall vacations were spent at “Marsha’s favorite place in the whole world.” She enjoyed camping in their motor home, traveling to many places in the United States including Hawaii with George and Alaska with Marsha. She also enjoyed wintering in Florida. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. She loved when the whole family would come and stay with her in Michigan. She loved being surrounded by the grandkids and great grandkids; they were truly her pride and joy! She also loved her trips to Iowa several times a year, especially memorable are the times she came to help when the grandkids were born.
She was always ready to watch the Detroit Tigers and Michigan State Spartans and cheer them on to victory.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Jeff Wetter; grandkids and great-grandkids: Amanda and Dan Herder, Peyton Geoffrey, Julianna Marie and Emory Christine Herder; Andrea and Kyle Dieleman, Emden Grace, Hendrik Judah, and Theissen James Dieleman; Jeremy and Bekah Wetter, baby boy Wetter (due any time); Joshua and Brittany Wetter; and many special nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband George E. Frendt; her parents Paul and Amanda Russ; her parents-in-law Charles and Wilhelmina Frendt; siblings: Walter (Bernice) Russ, Helen (Dan) Thomas, Eleanor (Bill) Lee, Victor (Bertha) Russ, John (Rena) Russ, Margaret (Francis) Montgomery and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Her biggest wish is to have ALL of her family and friends in HEAVEN someday with her. She has prayed for all of you! So if you have not said “Yes” to Jesus, make Grandma Ginny (or whatever you call her), happy by following her last request.
