Gary Van Sant

Gary Eugene Van Sant was born September 19, 1953, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Geurt and Leona (Plate) Van Sant. He passed away on September 9, 2017, in Saint Charles, Missouri.

Gary grew up in the Sully area where he attended Lynnville-Sully Elementary School. He was a 1971 graduate of Lynnville-Sully High School, and went on to graduate from American Institute of Business in 1973, and earned his B.A. degree in Accounting from Simpson College in 1991. Gary began his life-long career as an accountant in 1973. He worked for Robert Half, Inc. and Pella Implement. He enjoyed and took pride in his work and enjoyed the traveling that was involved.

Gary was a member of Sully Christian Reformed Church and was active in Cadets and the Church Council. He also enjoyed being a member of Jaycees and Lions clubs. Gary was a die-hard Yankees fan and never missed a game. He enjoyed golf, slow-pitch softball, basketball, playing cards or any games.

Gary was a loving brother and will be missed by his siblings: Roger and Lisa Van Sant of Montezuma, Duane and Ann Van Sant of Clive, and Barbara Van Sant of Sully; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Geurt and Leona.
